Insulation Repair & Replacement
Your Attic Insulation and Your Roof Work Together, or Against Each Other
Most homeowners think of insulation as an energy issue. It is, but it’s also a roofing issue. Insulation that’s damaged, insufficient, or improperly installed doesn’t just drive up heating and cooling costs. It creates conditions that shorten the life of your roof.
When attic insulation fails, heat escapes through the roof deck in winter, causing ice dams and accelerating shingle deterioration. In summer, poor insulation lets heat build in the attic to the point where it damages roofing materials and overworks your HVAC system. Pure Roofing addresses insulation as part of the full roof system, not as a standalone product.

How We Assess Your Insulation
We evaluate insulation in the context of your roof’s condition, ventilation, and performance. That perspective is what separates our approach from a general insulation company. If the existing material is in reasonable condition and the problem is limited to a specific section, a targeted repair can restore the thermal barrier without a full replacement.
If the insulation is outdated, contaminated, or underperforming across the attic, we’ll recommend replacement. Northern Virginia falls within DOE climate zones 4 and 4A, which call for R-49 to R-60 in most homes. We install blown-in fiberglass, blown-in cellulose, spray foam, rigid foam board, and batt insulation. We do not subcontract our work.
Insulation Services We Provide
Insulation Repair
Compressed, displaced, or damaged sections restored without replacing the full attic.
Full Insulation Replacement
Removal of old material, air sealing, and new installation to current R-value standards.
Ventilation Assessment
Evaluation of attic airflow, vapor barriers, and ventilation pathways alongside insulation.
Roof System Integration
Insulation evaluated and addressed during roof replacement projects to protect your new investment.
How Insulation Affects Your Roof’s Lifespan
This is the connection most homeowners miss. Inadequate attic insulation creates problems that directly affect the roof above it. In cold weather, escaping heat warms the roof deck unevenly, melting snow from below. That meltwater refreezes at the eaves, forming ice dams that force water under shingles. In warm weather, trapped attic heat accelerates shingle aging, dries out sealant strips, and can void manufacturer warranties.
Moisture compounds both problems. Condensation from temperature differentials settles into insulation, framing, and decking, creating conditions for rot and mold that often go undetected until the roof is opened for other work. Pure Roofing evaluates insulation during every roof replacement. A new roof over failing insulation won’t perform the way it should.

Lower Energy Bills Start in the Attic
Upgrading from inadequate or damaged insulation to current R-value standards typically produces a noticeable reduction in heating and cooling costs. The attic is where most residential energy loss occurs and where improvements have the greatest return.
Common signs your insulation is underperforming include rooms that are too hot in summer or too cold in winter, energy bills that keep climbing, and visible deterioration or gaps in attic coverage. If you can see the tops of your ceiling joists, your insulation is below recommended levels.
Our Process

Attic Inspection
We evaluate insulation type, depth, condition, ventilation, and moisture.
Step 2
Recommendation
You receive a written scope of work with R-value targets, materials, and pricing.
Step 3
Installation
New insulation installed to specified R-value with full coverage and clear ventilation pathways.
Step 4
Verification
We confirm depth, consistency, and airflow before closing out the project.
