Fast Response When It Matters Most

A roofing emergency means your home is actively exposed to the elements or at risk of further structural damage. That includes storm damage with missing or displaced shingles, a tree or large branch that’s impacted the roof, an active leak that’s reaching the interior, and fire or severe weather damage that has compromised the roof’s ability to keep water out.

These situations don’t wait for business hours, and neither do we. Pure Roofing provides emergency roofing services across Northern Virginia with same-day response and 24/7 availability. We’ve been serving the region for over 40 years through two generations of family ownership, and we bring the same quality and professionalism to emergency calls that we bring to scheduled projects. When your roof is compromised, the priority is stopping the damage from spreading. We get there fast, assess the situation honestly, and take immediate action to protect your home.

How We Provide Emergency Assistance

We respond to emergency calls with the goal of securing your home as quickly as possible. Every emergency visit includes an on-site inspection, immediate protective measures if needed, and thorough photo documentation. We provide detailed documentation of all damage, which you can use when filing an insurance claim. Pure Roofing supports your claim with inspection reports and repair estimates, but the claims process itself is between you and your insurer.

Our emergency services are performed by the same trained crew that handles our scheduled roofing projects. We do not subcontract our work. We are a licensed and insured contractor with manufacturer certifications from Owens Corning and GAF, serving homeowners across Northern Virginia’s priority counties.

Honest Assessments, Even in an Emergency

An emergency situation doesn’t change how we operate. We inspect the full scope of the damage, tell you exactly what we find, and recommend the most appropriate response, whether that’s emergency tarping, an immediate repair, or a plan for full restoration once conditions allow. We don’t use the urgency of the moment to push unnecessary work.

Emergency Tarping

What It Is and Why It Matters

Emergency tarping is a temporary weatherproofing measure designed to stop water intrusion immediately after roof damage occurs. It doesn’t replace a permanent repair, but it prevents the damage from getting worse while a repair plan is put together. In many cases, the difference between a contained problem and widespread interior damage comes down to how quickly a tarp goes on.

When You Need Emergency Tarping

Emergency tarping is appropriate when storm damage has removed or displaced shingles, leaving the deck or underlayment exposed. It’s also the right response when a fallen tree or large branch has punctured or compromised the roof surface, when fire damage has burned through roofing material, or when any event has created an opening that allows water into the home.

Our Tarping Process

We begin with an on-site inspection to assess the damage and determine the best placement and method for the tarp. We secure heavy-duty, weather-rated tarps to the roof using mechanical fastening methods that won’t cause additional damage to the surrounding roofing material. Once the tarp is in place, we document the damage with photos and written notes for your records.

This documentation is often needed when filing an insurance claim. We provide it to you directly so you have a complete record of the damage and the emergency response.

Leak Detection & Repair

Common Causes of Roof Leaks

Roof leaks don’t always start with a dramatic event. Some of the most common causes include storm damage to shingles or flashing, aging materials that have deteriorated past the point of effective water resistance, failed or improperly installed flashing around chimneys, skylights, and vents, cracked or missing ridge caps, and ice dam formation that forces water under the roof edge.

In some cases, a leak that appears suddenly has actually been developing slowly for months or years, with water traveling along rafters or decking before finally reaching a visible point inside the home.

Our Detection Process

Finding the source of a roof leak isn’t always straightforward. Water can enter at one point and travel a considerable distance before showing up as a stain on your ceiling. Our detection process includes a visual inspection of the roof surface, targeted moisture scanning to identify wet areas in the decking and insulation, and an interior assessment to trace the leak path from the visible damage back to its point of entry.

Repair Approach

Once we’ve identified the source, we determine whether a targeted repair will solve the problem or whether the damage indicates a larger issue that calls for a more significant scope of work. A localized leak caused by a single point of flashing failure is a very different situation than multiple leaks caused by widespread material deterioration.

If the leak has been active long enough to cause secondary damage, such as mold growth, structural rot in the decking or framing, or saturated insulation, we’ll identify those issues during the inspection and include them in our recommendation. Stopping the leak is the first priority, but addressing what it left behind is just as important.

Why Choose Pure Roofing for Emergencies

Many homeowners aren’t sure what to do after their home takes a hit from a severe storm. The process can feel overwhelming, especially when insurance is involved. Here’s what we recommend:

1

24/7 availability.

Roofing emergencies happen on their own schedule. We take emergency calls around the clock and respond with same-day service.

2

Fast response time.

When your home is actively taking on water or exposed to the elements, hours matter. We prioritize emergency calls and aim to have a crew on-site as quickly as conditions allow.

3

Licensed, insured, and local.

Pure Roofing is a licensed Virginia contractor, fully insured, and based in Northern Virginia. We're not a crew driving in from out of state after a storm. We live and work in the communities we serve.

4

Documentation to support your insurance claim.

We provide thorough photo documentation, written damage reports, and repair estimates that you can submit with your insurance claim. The claims process is yours to manage with your insurer, and we give you the documentation to support it.

5

Transparent pricing.

We don't inflate prices because it's an emergency. You receive the same honest pricing and written estimates we provide on every project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any situation where your roof is actively allowing water into your home, where roofing material has been displaced or removed, or where structural damage has compromised the roof’s integrity. If you’re unsure, call us and we’ll help you determine whether an emergency response is needed.

We offer same-day emergency response across Northern Virginia. Actual arrival time depends on weather conditions, your location, and current call volume, but we prioritize emergency calls and communicate an estimated arrival window when you reach us.

We provide the documentation your insurance company will need, including photos, written damage assessments, and repair estimates. The claims process is between you and your insurer. We do not act as a public adjuster or negotiate claims on your behalf.

Cost depends on the type and extent of the damage. We provide a written estimate before any permanent repair work begins. Emergency tarping is quoted on-site based on the scope of coverage needed.

No. We use proper mechanical fastening methods and heavy-duty tarps designed for emergency roof applications. The tarping process is designed to protect the roof without causing additional damage to surrounding materials.

In some cases, yes. If the damage is contained and the materials are available, we can complete a permanent repair on the same visit. More extensive damage typically requires a separate scheduled appointment for the full repair or restoration.

Protect Your Home. We’re Ready.

Every hour your roof is exposed, water has the opportunity to reach your decking, insulation, framing, and interior. The fastest way to limit the damage is to get a qualified crew on-site. Pure Roofing provides emergency response across Northern Virginia with honest assessments, professional repairs, and documentation to support your next steps.
